RESUMO

Em maio de 2017, o Ministério de Educação e Cultura decidiu recolher das escolas noventa e três mil exemplares do livro Enquanto o sono não vem, de José Mauro Brant. O Programa Alfabetização na Idade Certa (PNAIC) distribuiu o livro – voltado para alunos de 7 a 8 anos do primeiro ao terceiro ano do ensino fundamental de escolas públicas por todo o país, após avaliação de profissionais da Educação. Um parecer técnico da Secretaria de Educação Básica (SEB) avaliou o livro editado pela Rocco como inadequado para o público alvo por abordar o tema do incesto, amparando a decisão do MEC. A decisão controversa mobilizou gestores, educadores, críticos e até mesmo o autor. Para ele, o problema residiria na falta de capacitação dos professores para a leitura do livro em sala de aula. A polêmica envolveu e ainda deve envolver os atores citados. E em particular os não citados: as crianças, público alvo. Esta reflexão pretende retomar a polêmica tendo como principal objeto (e não como fonte) o livro que aqui representa um conjunto conhecido como contos maravilhosos e o espaço que ocupam - ou poderiam potencialmente ocupar na formação do leitor, desde as séries iniciais.

ABSTRACT

 In May 2017, the Ministry of Education and Culture decided to collect from the Brazilian schools ninety-three thousand copies of José Mauro Brant's book. The Literacy Program in the Right Age (PNAIC) distributed the book - aimed at students ranging from  7 to 8 years old,  from the first to the third year of elementary education in public schools throughout the country, after evaluation of education professionals. A technical opinion from the Secretariat of Basic Education (SEB) evaluated the book edited by Rocco as inappropriate for the target audience by addressing the issue of incest, supporting the MEC´s decision. The controversial act  mobilized education authorities, educators, critics and even the author. According to his viewpoint him, the problem would lie in the lack of capacity of teachers to properly read the book in the classroom. The controversy involved and still must involve the mentioned actors. And in particular the unnamed: the children, the target audience. This reflection intends to resume the polemic having as object (and not as source) the book that represents here a set of the stories known as fairy tales and the space they occupy - or could potentially occupy in the formation of the reader from the initial series.
