VIVENDO NA ALMA: O SAGRADO NAS MEMÓRIAS DE PEDRO NAVA

Resumo

O sagrado em si mesmo sempre constituiu uma possibilidade de relação dos crentes com o mundo metafísico ou sobrenatural. Pedro Nava ampliou o tema da unidade essencial entre fé e religiosidade em associação à lembrança dos mortos ao fornecer uma série de relatos sugestivos de que aspectos simbólicos do sagrado poderiam exercer uma influência sobre a memória do passado e a experiência cotidiana. Este artigo é um estudo de algumas narrativas das Memórias de Pedro Nava, considerando as ideias de sagrado e religiosidade. O argumento central em questão é que essas noções estão inextricavelmente mescladas em relatos sobre a vida em família e o sobrenatural. Fundamentada nos escritos de Peter Brown e Gilberto Freyre sobre a natureza cultural e histórica da influência cristã, a análise sugere que os desdobramentos das noções de sagrado e de religião em Baú de ossos (1972), Balão cativo (1973) e Chão de ferro (1976) orientam-se por conceitos cristãos.

ABSTRACT

The sacred itself always constituted a possibility of relation of the believers with the metaphysical or supernatural world. Nava broadened the theme of the essential unity between faith and religiosity in association to remembrance of the dead when provides a series of accounts suggestives that symbolic aspects of the holy could exert an influence on the memory of the past and everyday experience. This paper is a study of some narratives in Pedro Nava’s Memoirs, considering the ideas of sacred and religiosity. The central argument in question is that these notions are inextricably mixed in accounts related to family life and supernatural events. Supported by the writings of Peter Brown and Gilberto Freyre on the cultural and historical nature of Christian influence, the analysis suggests that the developments of the notion of sacred and of religion in Trunk of bones (1972), Captive baloon (1973) and Iron Ground (1976) are guided by Christian concepts.
