UM SINO QUE DOBRA OU LETRAS QUE BALANÇAM? CONSIDERAÇÕES SOBRE NOVELAS ROSIANAS E PALAVRAS BÍBLICAS

Resumo

A criação de novas palavras é comum no processo de escrita de João Guimarães Rosa. Os neologismos que estruturam as obras do autor mineiro surgem da linguagem sertaneja, da reprodução de sons ouvidos e imaginados ou mesmo da combinação de raízes pertencentes a outras línguas. Isto se deve ao fato de que Rosa, além de poliglota, era atento ouvinte das conversas desenvolvidas no sertão mineiro. Na maioria das vezes, descobrir a origem de suas inventivas palavras favorece a compreensão das narrativas nas quais estão inseridas, e esse é o propósito das investigações do presente artigo, que busca uma conceituação da expressão Dão-lalalão – título para uma das novelas de Corpo de Baile. Para a construção de um conceito para o termo, será considerada a intertextualidade com a novela A estória de Lélio e Lina (2016), bem como a possibilidade de relação com antigas raízes da língua hebraica, cujo sentido emerge em narrativas bíblicas. No decorrer da investigação, será fundamental a percepção de que o significado de Dão-lalalão estende-se sobre as personagens principais da novela, Doralda e Soropita, justificando suas atitudes e personalidades. Este estudo, portanto, além de oferecer uma reflexão detalhada sobre o título de Dão-lalalão (2016), constitui-se também em uma proposta de interpretação para a novela.

ABSTRACT

Creation of new words is rather common in João Guimarães Rosa’s writing process. The neologisms that structure the work of this mineiro author arise from the language of the countryside, the reproduction of heard and imagined sounds, or even the combination of steams from other languages. This is due to the fact that Rosa, besides being a polyglot, was an attentive listener of the conversations taking place in rural areas of Minas Gerais. In most cases, discovering the origin of his inventive words favours the understanding of the narratives in which they are inserted. Such is the purpose of this paper, which also seeks a conceptualization of the expression Dão-lalalão – one title of the short story that make up Corpo de Baile. In order to formulate a concept for such a term, intertextuality between the above-mentioned work and the short story A estória de Lélio and Lina (2016) was used, as well as the relating of the neologisms to their possible roots in the Hebrew language, whose meaning is found in biblical narratives. In the course of the following investigation, it will be essential to notice that the meaning of Dão-lalalão extends over the main characters of the novel, Doralda and Soropita, justifying their attitudes and personalities. Therefore, besides offering a detailed reflection on the title Dão-lalalão (2016), this study also becomes a proposal for interpreting the novel.
