FEBRE AMARELA: O MOSQUITO, O MACACO E O SER HUMANO

Resumo

A febre amarela é uma doença infeciosa não contagiosa que é transmitida pela picada de um mosquito infectado, recentes surtos da doença no País levaram a centenas de óbitos humanos e milhares de mortes de primatas. Este trabalho tem como objetivo trazer informações sobre a febre amarela e a tríade envolvida no ciclo de transmissão do vírus, além de dados atualizados sobre os números de casos humanos, notificações de epizootias, mortalidade de primatas e informações sobre a cobertura vacinal do município de Juiz de Fora. Uma extensa revisão literária foi realizada sobre tema. Foram elucidadas as principais questões referentes aos sintomas, manejo clínico, vacinação e tratamento da doença. Os aspectos básicos da biologia, ecologia e comportamento dos mosquitos ligados ao ciclo da Febre Amarela silvestre (Haemagogus e Sabethes) e urbana (Aedes aegypti) no Brasil. São apresentadas informações sobre os casos humanos da doença no Estado de Minas Gerais e no município de Juiz de Fora. Além de dados sobre as epizootias que acometeram as populações de primatas no país e os danos de ações humanas agressivas sobre esses animais. Grandes esforços foram realizados com intuito de conter o surto da doença. As medidas preventivas contra a febre amarela devem ser constantes, mas ainda se faz necessário mais ações que promovam a conscientização e ampliem o acesso a informação sobre a transmissão da doença.

ABSTRACT

Yellow fever is a non-contagious infectious disease that is transmitted by a bite from an infected mosquito. Recent outbreaks of the disease in the country have led to hundreds of human deaths and thousands of primate deaths. This work aims to provide information on yellow fever and the triad involved in the virus transmission cycle, as well as updated data on human case numbers, epizootic reports, primate mortality, and information on the municipality's vaccination coverage of Juiz de Fora. An extensive literary review was conducted on the subject. In this article the symptoms, clinical management, vaccination and treatment of the disease are exposed. The basic aspects of the biology, ecology and behavior of mosquitoes linked to the cycle of Yellow Fever (Haemagogus and Sabethes) and urban Yellow Fever (Aedes aegypti) in Brazil. It shows data on the epizootics that affected the primate populations in the country and the state of Minas Gerais, and the damages that the recent epidemics of yellow fever have caused on these populations. Information on the cases of the disease and actions for coping in the municipality of Juiz de Fora and the repercussion of the consequences of aggressive actions on the monkeys are also presented. Great efforts have been made to contain the outbreak of the disease, but there is still a need for more actions that promote awareness, broaden access to information on the transmission of the disease, and preventive measures must be constant.
